While police are often criticized for having inadequate training, the truth is, even police officers performing the most standard tasks (like issuing parking tickets) have to go through a rigorous training phase. While films like Police Academy have lampooned the process by which police officers are trained, the training is quite strenuous, and many candidates don’t pass. Even qualifying for law enforcement training can be quite a chore, as police officers have to pass stringent background checks and jump through several hoops before being accepted.
While training, future law enforcement officers learn hundreds of valuable skills, and must pass tests that test their physical and mental limits. In addition, future police officers sometimes must test the weapons they would use on others on themselves, to understand how the weapon works and how to overcome the same threat should the situation arise. For example, it’s common for law enforcement officers to be hit with a burst of police pepper spray during training. They experience the stinging sensation and learn how to compensate for it, and also recognize how it will affect a potential attacker.

When it comes to protecting yourself, it’s best to have concealed protection that is small and functional. Having a huge bulky taser or stun gun in your purse can be a pain to carry around, in particular because it’s so seldom used. Pepper spray is the most efficient protection to carry because it is small in size and easy to use. In addition, smaller items for self protection like a pepper spray key chain can seem almost invisible. Protection needs to be practical and functional, most of all.z
It’s also important to replace your pepper spray every few years. Older canisters of pepper spray can have small leaks and lose their pressure over time. There’s nothing more frightening than needing to use your pepper spray and having it not work.

I’ve lived downtown for several years now, and while I had never heard of friends who also lived downtown being in danger, I always carried protection. I had a canister of pepper spray foam in my backpack, and it had remained there unused for a couple years. One night I was walking to my car, which is just across the street from I work, and as I was walking in the parking lot, I noticed two men walking with purpose towards me from two different directions. For whatever reason, it was clear to me what was about to happen. I reached in my backpack and pulled out the pepper spray foam and as soon as I had it in my hands the men veered off and went the other direction.
I could feel my heart beating in my chest, and while I’ll never know if it was their intention to harm me, it felt great to have protection available to me when I needed it.

When confronted with an attacker, it can be frightening to be up close. For this reason, sometimes pepper spray isn’t practical when you need to be at close range to use it. Under these circumstances, a pepper shot will work much better. The pepper shot has much larger range than your standard canister of pepper spray. In addition, the pepper shot is accurate often up to thirty feet, making it ideal if you’re being followed or just sense that danger is around the corner.
Whether you’re walking at night, in a secluded area, or just in a place you don’t feel safe, a pepper shot will put your anxieties to rest and allow you much needed confidence. Everyone should have protection for those dangerous circumstances.

Inflicting bodily harm on another person is a crime, just as taking a life. Both aren’t felonies or misdemeanors however, when done in self defense. Self-defense is defined as the act by which an individual protects himself from physical harm that is brought about by another person. This is accomplished with a counter attack or an offensive move that is meant to thwart the assailant.
Men and women who know how to defend themselves have a better chance of overcoming goons and other aggressors. Protecting yourself is definitely possible without a self defense item like mace pepper spray. Through martial arts, beating an opponent and rendering them powerless is achievable. Some of the acclaimed types of self-defense recognized internationally are karate, tae kwon do, boxing, aikido, wrestling, and judo.

Police and security officers often carry the same brand of pepper spray: Mace. Mace spray is one of the most powerful varieties of pepper spray, and it offers superior protection and reliability when compared to other pepper sprays. The Mace brand offers several different kinds of pepper spray, including small compact sizes, and larger models that incorporate tear gas and UV marking dye which can instantly disable an attacker and allow you to escape. Mace spray is so powerful it is even regulated in some states (though the spray itself doesn’t cause permanent damage unless it is abused).
When purchasing Mace, you can rest assured that you are protected and secure wherever you might be. With one quick burst you will be able to disorient attackers up to ten feet away, and remove yourself from harm quickly.

When it comes to wielding pepper spray, carrying around a huge spray can in your purse or handbag can be inconvenient, especially if you don’t have a lot of space. There are a few convenient options for carrying pepper spray, most notable being keychain pepper spray and concealed pepper spray. Keychain pepper spray is much more compact than the normal spray bottle, and it attaches to your keychain for easy access. Pepper spray that has been concealed in a small object, like a lipstick container or even a pen can provide a short burst of pepper spray that will disorient a potential attacker.
No matter what you carry, if you live in an urban location or even if you’re forced to sometimes walk the streets at night, it’s important to have pepper spray or some method with which to protect yourself. Remember too, the easiest way to avoid a dangerous situation is to take measure to prevent it!

When it comes to law enforcement officials, it’s necessary for them to possess weapons that are more potent than those allowed by the population. This is also the reason that certain self defense weapons that don’t seem all that dangerous are outlawed. Mace spray is one example of a self defense weapon that often receives a bad rap. In states and different countries around the world, Mace has been outlawed because it is rumored to be unnecessarily powerful. However, in reality it is no more dangerous than pepper spray, it simply stuns and disorients for a longer period of time.
Mace is often carried by law enforcement in lieu of the less potent pepper spray, and during police training it is sometimes used against cadets to illustrate the effects and how to react if sprayed with mace.

When most people think of bears, pepper spray is not the first thing that comes to mind. However, most park rangers and even the National Parks Service recommend carrying pepper spray in areas populated by bears. Though the standard pepper spray won’t often work to deter a bear, formulated bear pepper spray can deter an attack and even save your life. Bear attacks are quite rare, but the Grizzly bear can be aggressive if provoked or if it feels that it’s young are in danger.
Though there are pepper spray regulations in certain states, often bear pepper spray bypasses the imposed regulations to promote safety. However, it is not safe to use bear pepper spray on humans; it’s nearly five times the potency of normal pepper spray and can cause serious damage or even be fatal if used on a human.

In certain states, pepper spray has been banned or is otherwise not approved in its traditional form. There are a few ways to get around a ban, and also ensure that you are protected from potential attackers. For states like Michigan in which only a special kind of pepper spray is allowed, you can purchase Michigan approved pepper spray, which is a special blend of Mace or Tear Gas that contains a dye to make it easy for law enforcement to identify an attacker. In other states where pepper spray is banned altogether, it is possible to purchase pepper spray designed to be used for protection from animals such as bears.
When choosing to buy pepper spray, ensure that you are aware of your state’s practices and regulations to avoid breaking the law and potential fines or more serious consequences.
